Theatre Tuscaloosa to Hold Auditions for “Girls' Weekend” on October 18 & 19

Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold open auditions for its upcoming production of Girls’ Weekend by Karen Schaeffer on October 18 & 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).

This madcap comedy, directed by Charles Prosser, features four women, Dot, Carol, Meg, and her daughter Ellie, who get together in a remote cabin for a winter getaway. The four soon find themselves missing their partners, however, and each plots to sneak their love interest into the cabin without the others knowing. With the wine flowing and conversation flying, the four women soon realize how difficult their secret dalliances will be.

Dot, Carol, Meg, and Ellie are played by women of ages from 20s to 60s, of any race or ethnicity. Other cast members include Carol’s husband Rick, Dot’s son Stephen, Sheriff Tom Lane, and Bubba, whose ages range from 20s to 50s, of any race or ethnicity.

Those interested in auditioning should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script and bring a completed calendar of potential conflicts. A perusal script is available for review in the ticket office during normal office hours; however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Rehearsals will begin November 1 and will be held Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00-10:00 p.m. and Sundays from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Rehearsals will not be held on Veteran’s Day or Thanksgiving Day.

Girls’ Weekend will be presented December 10-19 in the Bean-Brown Theatre.
