TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa will take its production of Launch Day (Love Stories from the Year 2108) by Michael Higgins to the Bama Theatre June 12 for a benefit performance ahead of the 2023 American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) National Festival.
Theatre Tuscaloosa’s production was named “Best of Show” at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Lexington, Kentucky, in March 2023. Theatre Tuscaloosa now advances to the national level where they will compete against 11 other community theatres for the national title of “Best in Show.”
“Returning to the Bama Theatre after 25 years is a great joy to us,” Executive Director Tina Turley said. “We are looking forward to sharing this amazing show one last time before taking it on the road to Louisville, Kentucky.”
As a “bon-voyage,” Launch Day (Love Stories From the Year 2108) will perform one last time before leaving for the national competition.
“It is a huge investment to send 16 people, the set, costumes, and props to Louisville,” Managing
Director Adam Miller said. “We hope Tuscaloosa will support us as we showcase T-Town’s talent on the national stage!”
The bar will be open, and concessions will be available for purchase. Audience members will be able to “Sponsor an Actor” as part of the fundraiser. Actors will be available to sponsor for $500, or donors can make general donations at any price to support the show. The “Sponsor an Actor” campaign is also available now online or by phone.
All tickets are $25, and seating is general admission. Tickets and more information is available at www.theatretusc.com or at 205.391.2277.
